The Diminished Realm

represents a series of paintings that interrogate philosophical and material certainties. On the one hand, it describes an absence or loss, a falling away, or a gradual disintegration and atrophy. And on the other, the unstable and the fugitive, here expressed by liminal and ambiguous forms, where they are at once both advancing and receding, emerging and diminishing. Natural phenomena and man-made structures are located in a non-descriptive and immeasurable space: they are neither here nor there; a terra incognita at the furthest edge of memory and time, resistant to the ordering exigence of history and the subterranean current of myth.
